Jen Falls Apart: The Aspartame E-Mails

Dr. Martini,

I hope you don’t mind me writing you again. If you have a minute, I have a question for you.

I’m on day three of no artificial sweeteners. Mostly this was diet mountain dew, which I averaged about… I don’t know, 40-60 oz of a day, although more on some days (that’s a lot, I know). I’ve been drinking some unsweetened black and green tea to help out with the caffeine aspect, but I definitely can’t drink tea as quickly as I did diet soda, so I’ve only had a little bit of it each day.

I felt alright the first two days, but today I feel really, really depressed. This is unusual for me. I get depressed right before my period (which isn’t right now) and besides that I’m a really resilient, upbeat, energetic person. I’m really down, can’t stop crying, and my head is aching. Obviously I’m tempted to cheat and have some diet mountain dew, but I know that’s the wrong thing to do. I’m embarrassed about my mood and energy, and I know my boyfriend is both worried about and exhausted by my bizarre moods and behavior.

Do you think these feelings are, as I’m thinking they are, attributable to getting off the diet soda? How long do you think they will last?? What can I do to speed along the process?? My plan is to exercise a lot, sleep a lot, and drink coffee and tea caffeine this week… is there anything else I can do??

Thank you so much for your time and advice. It means so much to me.

Best,

Jen

Her amazingly kind response. I wouldn’t have responded to me. I sound unstable and not like someone I would want to waste time interacting with. Betty, though, is far kinder and more patient than I am, so she responded.

Dear Jennifer,

I’m so sorry.  You are going through withdrawal.  The free methyl alcohol is classified as a narcotic.  It causes chronic methanol poisoning.  This affects the dopamine system of the brain and causes the addiction.  Dr. Coldwell has a detox that helps a lot.  Also under resources, the button at the top of the page on www.mpwhi.com  you will not only see Dr. Coldwell’s detox but a paper by Dr. Russell Blaylock, neurosurgeon titled, “What To Do If You Have Used Aspartame”.  Notice Dr.Blaylock says to flood the body with distilled water.  However, you can only use it for awhile.  I have an alkaline water machine, ionization.  I had acid reflux for 20 years and it stopped it immediately.  Also if your body is alkaline you can’t have cancer which aspartame causes, this according to a Noble Laureate.  But you do need to flush out your system.  Notice Dr. Blaylock also says to use magnesium everyday to protect the brain and the heart from excitotoxins.  Some victims says it helps the headaches they get on withdrawal.Victims do complain of PMS, and I forgot if I told you aspartame is an endocrine disrupting agent.  It stimulates prolactin, changes the menses and causes infertility.  Then if a victim gets pregnant but gets back on it aspartame is an abortifacient as well as a teratogen causing birth defects and mental retardation. You want to avoid MSG which has an additive and synergistic effect, another excitotoxin.  Remember that aspartame and MSG are hidden in artificial and natural flavors, so you want to avoid processed foods.   Once you detox and get your system cleaned out then vitamins and other supplements will work.  Dr. Blaylock tells you which ones to use.

You just have to take one day at a time.  If you need help I’m always right here to help and explain.  Incidentally, Dr. Blaylock recommends Jigsaw magnesium.  The company is on the net. Otherwise, never use magnesium aspartate  because aspartate is what is in aspartame.   You can’t isolate aspartate or phenylalanine because they become excitotoxic and neurotoxic.

The phenylalanine in aspartame lowers the seizure threshold and depletes serotonin.  Lowered serotonin triggers psychiatric and behavioral problems like manic depression or bipolar, anxiety, panic attacks, schizophrenia, insomnia, etc.  Aspartame interacts with all antidepressants.  Remember the woman who drowned her 5 children.  She was using Hydol and drinking Diet Coke, which is a double whammy according to Dr. Ralph Walton, psychiatrist, kanother physician we work with.

Usually by the end of two weeks you should be fine. Just take one day at a time and watch what you eat. Dr. Fagan who exposed genetic engineering always use to say if its in a box don’t use it.  If you can afford it use organic products.  Whole Foods, for instances, bans aspartame and Splenda.  So you can shop there if there is one in your town and not fear aspartame is in any of the products hidden.

All my best,
Betty
